Blood Storage Technician

The Blood Storage Technician will support blood storage unit operations, blood component handling, temperature monitoring, stock documentation, issue records, compatibility support, and safety compliance at HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad. This requires B.Sc with DMLT qualification with 1–3 years of blood storage or laboratory experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Receive, store, issue, and maintain blood and blood components as per hospital protocol.
• Verify blood bag details, group, expiry date, compatibility records, and patient information before issue.
• Monitor storage temperature, refrigerator logs, alarm systems, and equipment readiness.
• Maintain blood stock registers, issue records, crossmatch records, and documentation.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, laboratory, blood bank, OT, ICU, and ward teams.
• Follow blood storage SOPs, transfusion safety, biosafety, and infection control practices.
• Report temperature variation, stock mismatch, expiry risk, or equipment malfunction promptly.
• Support emergency blood issue and urgent transfusion coordination when required.
• Maintain cleanliness, labeling, traceability, and documentation accuracy in the blood storage area.
• Handle samples, blood bags, and biomedical waste safely.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and transfusion-related record security.
• Ensure safe, compliant, and timely blood storage support.
