The Consultant - Medical Oncologist will provide cancer consultation, diagnosis, treatment planning, chemotherapy guidance, patient counselling, and oncology care coordination at HCG Hospitals, Rajkot. This requires DM or DrNB in Medical Oncology qualification with 1–2 years of experience in medical oncology and cancer care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Examine and consult patients with suspected or confirmed cancer conditions.
- Review patient history, clinical findings, biopsy reports, imaging reports, lab results, and staging details.
- Prepare evidence-based medical oncology treatment plans including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care as applicable.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, prognosis, follow-up, and long-term care.
- Coordinate with surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, nursing, pharmacy, ICU, and patient care teams.
- Monitor treatment response, chemotherapy tolerance, adverse effects, complications, and disease progression.
- Manage oncology emergencies, treatment-related side effects, and supportive care needs.
- Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment plans, chemotherapy orders, consent forms, and follow-up documentation.
- Participate in tumor board discussions, multidisciplinary care planning, and clinical decision-making.
- Ensure patient safety, ethical practice, confidentiality, and compassionate cancer care.
- Follow hospital oncology protocols, clinical guidelines, and documentation standards.
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered, and coordinated medical oncology services.
