- IBS with constipation (IBS-C): Predominant symptoms include hard, lumpy stools.
- IBS with diarrhea (IBS-D): Characterized by frequent loose, watery stools.
- IBS with mixed bowel habits (IBS-M): Combines both diarrhea and constipation symptoms.
- Post-infectious IBS: Develops after gastroenteritis, often related to gut inflammation.
- Post-diverticulitis IBS: Occurs following diverticulitis episodes, even after treatment.
