Refugee Day

World Refugee Day traces its origins to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, a landmark international treaty that defined the rights and legal obligations of refugees. The day was officially established on June 20th in 2000 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the adoption of this convention.
