World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day is consistently held on June 20 to bring to light issues about the conditions and issues that refugees face in their lives. This day gives an opportunity to show extensively that we are as a whole with refugees.

World Refugee Day traces its origins to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, a landmark international treaty that defined the rights and legal obligations of refugees. The day was officially established on June 20th in 2000 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the adoption of this convention. The United Nations designated World Refugee Day as an occasion to raise awareness about the plight of refugees, honor their resilience, and advocate for their rights and well-being.
