World Water Day is celebrated annually on March 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of freshwater and its sustainable management.
- The day was first designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993, following the recommendations of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
- World Water Day is an opportunity to promote sustainable water management practices and to encourage governments, organizations, and individuals to take action to protect and conserve our freshwater resources.
