Cath Lab Technician

The Cath Lab Technician will support cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures by preparing equipment, assisting cardiologists, operating imaging systems, monitoring patients, and maintaining cath lab documentation. This requires knowledge of cath lab procedures, radiation safety, sterile practices, cardiac monitoring, and emergency readiness. The candidate will help ensure smooth angiography, angioplasty, and related cardiac intervention workflows.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the cath lab, equipment, monitors, instruments, and consumables before procedures.
• Assist cardiologists during angiography, angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker, and related interventions.
• Operate cath lab imaging systems and support fluoroscopy-based workflow as instructed.
• Position patients correctly and ensure proper pre-procedure preparation.
• Monitor ECG, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and procedural parameters during cases.
• Maintain sterile field support and follow infection control practices during procedures.
• Ensure availability of catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, contrast media, and emergency supplies.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and use protective devices for patients and staff.
• Assist in patient shifting, pre-procedure checks, and post-procedure transfer coordination.
• Maintain procedure records, equipment logs, consumable usage, and cath lab documentation.
• Report equipment malfunction, image quality issues, or procedural concerns immediately.
• Coordinate with cardiologists, nurses, biomedical engineers, anesthetists, and emergency teams.
• Support cleaning, disinfection, and readiness of cath lab after each procedure.
• Assist in CPR, code response, and emergency cath lab situations when required.
• Maintain professional discipline, patient safety, and smooth cath lab operations.
