CathLab Technician

The CathLab Technician will be responsible for assisting cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, preparing the Cath Lab, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring adherence to sterile and safety protocols. The requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Prepare Cath Lab for procedures including setup of equipment, instruments, and consumables.
• Operate Cath Lab imaging systems and monitoring equipment.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of Cath Lab machines and accessories.
• Maintain strict sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
• Prepare and position patients for cardiac procedures.
• Monitor patient vitals during procedures and report abnormalities.
• Assist in emergency cardiac interventions and life-saving procedures.
• Handle and manage catheters, guidewires, and other interventional tools.
• Ensure availability of required consumables and manage inventory.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and equipment usage.
• Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure (ALARA principle).
• Coordinate with nursing staff and doctors for smooth workflow.
• Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per guidelines.
• Support post-procedure patient care and transfer.
• Troubleshoot minor technical issues related to Cath Lab equipment.
• Participate in regular maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the Cath Lab at all times.
• Assist in training and development of junior staff if required.
