Scientific Officer

The Scientific Officer will be responsible for performing and supervising diagnostic tests, validating reports, and ensuring accurate interpretation of results. The involves strict compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), effective sample handling, equipment monitoring, and coordination with clinicians and internal teams to maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure strict adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS), departmental SOPs, GLP, and defined laboratory methodologies.
• Perform diagnostic tests accurately as per prescribed procedures and approved protocols.
• Verify prescriptions and coordinate with clinicians or customers to clarify test requirements when needed.
• Confirm correct patiententification and details before sample collection, processing, and reporting.
• Provide and ensure compliance with pre-test instructions for specialized investigations.
• Maintain proper sample collection, labeling, recording, storage, and full traceability throughout the testing process.
• Assist consultants during investigations by preparing equipment and supporting patient-related procedures.
• Monitor laboratory instruments using controls, calibrators, and routine test runs to ensure accuracy and precision of results.
• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and optimal functioning of all laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot minor instrument issues and escalate major problems to senior staff or service engineers.
• Verify and validate all test results and reports before final release.
• Communicate with customers or referring doctors regarding unperformed or delayed tests with proper documentation.
• Maintain laboratory records including test logs, calibration records, maintenance logs, and service documentation.
• Monitor stock levels of reagents, kits, and consumables and ensure proper storage conditions.
• Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality standards before use.
• Support implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for deviations and non-conformances.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control, and biomedical waste management guidelines.
• Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
• Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely reporting.
• Participate in internal audits and ensure audit readiness at all times.
• Monitor key performance indicators such as turnaround time (TAT), accuracy, and efficiency.
• entify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous quality enhancement initiatives.
• Follow allectives from consultants and management to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and high professional standards within the laboratory environment.
