Duty Medical Officer

The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) will be responsible for assessing patients, managing admissions and discharges, providing immediate medical care, and supporting consultants in diagnosis and treatment. The requires strong clinical judgment, prompt decision-making, and the ability to handle emergencies efficiently.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide round-the-clock medical care to patients across departments.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patient conditions under consultant supervision.
• Handle patient admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.
• Conduct regular ward rounds and monitor patient progress.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate stabilization.
• Review laboratory and diagnostic reports and take appropriate clinical actions.
• Prescribe medications as per clinical guidelines and hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation.
• Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for effective patient care.
• Attend Code Blue and emergency calls and manage critical situations.
• Assist in clinical procedures and interventions when required.
• Ensure continuity of care through proper handover during shift changes.
• Follow hospital policies, SOPs, and clinical guidelines strictly.
• Support infection control and patient safety practices.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
• Assist in medico-legal cases and ensure proper documentation.
• Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.
• Stay updated with medical advancements and best practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management or consultants.
