Anaesthesist

The Anaesthetist will be responsible for evaluating patients prior to surgery, administering appropriate anesthesia, monitoring vital functions during procedures, and managing post-operative recovery and pain. The requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and close coordination with surgical and critical care teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and assess patient fitness for surgery.
• Review medical history, allergies, and risk factors to determine anesthesia plans.
• Explain anesthesia procedures, risks, and precautions to patients and families.
• Administer general, regional, or local anesthesia as per surgical requirements.
• Monitor patient vital signs continuously during surgical procedures.
• Adjust anesthesia levels to maintain patient comfort and safety.
• Manage airway, ventilation, and hemodynamic stability during surgery.
• Handle anesthesia-related emergencies and complications promptly.
• Provide post-operative care and pain management.
• Monitor patients in recovery rooms and ensure safe emergence from anesthesia.
• Coordinate with surgeons, OT staff, and critical care teams.
• Maintain accurate anesthesia records and medication logs.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols in OT and ICU settings.
• Participate in emergency and critical care services when required.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and NABH standards.
• Train and guide junior doctors and anesthesia technicians.
• Participate in audits, research, and continuous medical education.
• Maintain ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
• Contribute to improving perioperative care and patient safety.
