Job Description

Associate Consultant - Emergency Medicine is responsible for managing emergency department patients, handling acute medical and trauma cases, supporting rapid diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment planning. The requires MBBS with MD or DNB qualification and 2 to 5 years of experience in emergency medicine. Candidates should have strong knowledge of emergency protocols, resuscitation, trauma care, clinical decision-making, patient triage, and multidisciplinary coordination.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage emergency patients requiring immediate clinical assessment and care.
  • Perform rapid triage and prioritize patients based on urgency.
  • Handle trauma, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, shock, sepsis, poisoning, and acute medical conditions.
  • Provide initial stabilization, diagnosis, and emergency treatment as per hospital protocol.
  • Lead or support CPR, code blue, and resuscitation activities.
  • Review ECG, ABG, imaging, laboratory reports, and clinical findings.
  • Coordinate with ICU, OT, radiology, laboratory, nursing, and specialty consultants.
  • Guide junior doctors, clinical assistants, and emergency nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate emergency case sheets, prescriptions, progress notes, and medico-legal documentation.
  • Communicate patient condition, treatment plan, and referral needs to patients and attendants.
  • Support admission, transfer, referral, discharge, and observation decisions.
  • Ensure emergency equipment, crash cart, and life-saving drugs are available and functional.
  • Follow infection control, patient safety, and emergency department protocols.
  • Participate in emergency audits, clinical reviews, and quality improvement activities.
  • Deliver fast, ethical, and patient-centered emergency medical care.
