Blood Bank Technician

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection, grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing.
• Screen blood units for infectious diseases as per standard protocols.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of blood and blood components.
• Monitor temperature and storage conditions of blood bank equipment.
• Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and traceability of blood units.
• Manage blood inventory and ensure availability for transfusion needs.
• Issue blood and blood components as per requisitions and guidelines.
• Maintain records of donors, collections, testing, and transfusions.
• Ensure compliance with blood bank regulations, SOPs, and safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
• Handle and dispose of biomedical waste as per safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with doctors and hospital staff for transfusion requirements.
• Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
• Assist in audits and inspections by maintaining proper documentation.
• Address discrepancies and report any adverse transfusion reactions.
• Ensure cleanliness and hygiene within the blood bank area.
