Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse – OPD

The Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse – OPD will manage outpatient and emergency routines, coordinate with consultants and departments, and ensure efficient patient care delivery. This requires strong clinical knowledge, coordination skills, and the ability to handle patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage daily OPD and emergency (ER) routines, ensuring smooth patient flow.
• Ensure proper handover and takeover during shift changes.
• Coordinate with Guest Relations for appointment scheduling and resource planning.
• Plan staffing and resource allocation based on patient load and consultant requirements.
• Ensure availability of required materials, medicines, and equipment.
• Assign duties to nursing staff based on experience and skill mix.
• Supervise and ensure competency of nursing staff in assigned tasks.
• Ensure strict adherence to clinical protocols and hospital policies.
• Record accurate patient medical history for consulting physicians.
• Assist gynecologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, and other consultants during procedures.
• Ensure all prescribed investigations are carried out efficiently.
• Handle emergencies calmly and provide timely clinical support and decisions.
• Report incidents immediately to Nursing Superintendent (NS) or concerned authority.
• Ensure medication safety and adherence to patient safety protocols.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights at all times.
• Provide patient education and counseling to patients and attendants.
• Implement infection control practices and maintain hygiene standards.
• Ensure compliance with NABH and Nursing Excellence standards.
• Handle and maintain all medical equipment; ensure team competency in usage.
• Maintain records, registers, and reports as per organizational standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of nursing quality indicators.
• Manage inventory efficiently and minimize wastage of resources.
• Coordinate with billing team for investigations and related activities.
• Work closely with clinical teams to ensure efficient and quality patient care.
• Participate in audits, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professionalism, empathy, and patient-centric approach.
• Work in rotational shifts and manage workload effectively.
• Ensure smooth coordination across departments for enhanced patient experience.
• Contribute to overall patient satisfaction and operational excellence.
