Job Description

Resident Officer - Medical Services is responsible for providing continuous medical care, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the smooth functioning of clinical and emergency services within the hospital. The involves attending patient rounds, coordinating with consultants and healthcare teams, handling emergency situations, maintaining medical documentation, and ensuring quality patient care across departments.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage day-to-day patient care activities and medical services.
  • Conduct regular patient rounds and assess patient health conditions.
  • Coordinate with consultants, specialists, and nursing staff regarding patient treatment plans.
  • Attend emergency and critical care cases and provide immediate medical support.
  • Monitor seriously ill patients and ensure timely escalation to senior doctors when required.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation including admission records, progress notes, discharge summaries, and treatment updates.
  • Follow up on laboratory investigations, diagnostic reports, and pending procedures.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between departments for effective patient management.
  • Respond promptly to patient complaints, medical concerns, and emergency situations.
  • Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, and emergency interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards.
  • Support patient admission, discharge, referral, and transfer processes.
  • Maintain proper handover and takeover procedures during shift changes.
  • Communicate patient condition updates to consultants and senior management when necessary.
  • Participate in medical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records at all times.
  • Coordinate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
  • Participate in training programs, emergency drills, and continuing medical education activities.
  • Ensure adherence to NABH standards, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain professionalism, ethical medical practices, and compassionate patient care.
  • Perform additional clinical and administrative responsibilities assigned by senior consultants or management.
