CSSD Technician

The CSSD Technician will handle the cleaning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies. This requires strict adherence to sterilization protocols, attention to detail, and knowledge of infection control practices.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ETO, and washer-disinfectors.
• Ensure all instruments are processed as per SOPs and infection control guidelines.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before sterilization.
• Pack, label, and store sterilized instruments appropriately.
• Maintain proper documentation and sterilization records.
• Monitor sterilization cycles and ensure parameters are met.
• Handle biological and chemical indicators for sterilization validation.
• Ensure proper segregation and handling of contaminated instruments.
• Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and ensure timely availability.
• Coordinate with OT, wards, and other departments for instrument requirements.
• Ensure safe handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the CSSD area.
• Follow infection control, safety, and hygiene protocols strictly.
• Participate in audits and ensure audit readiness.
• Report any equipment malfunction or process deviation immediately.
• Assist in maintaining calibration and preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Ensure compliance with NABH and regulatory standards.
• Maintain traceability of instruments and sterilization batches.
• Support emergency requirements with timely instrument availability.
• Work in shifts and manage workload efficiently.
• Coordinate with procurement for ordering consumables and supplies.
• Maintain proper PPE usage and personal hygiene standards.
• Assist in training new staff or trainees when required.
• Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks.
• Stay updated with best practices in sterilization and infection control.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and sterile healthcare environment.
