Job Description
The Medical Transcriptionist will be responsible for converting voice-recorded medical reports into written documents, reviewing and editing clinical notes, and ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with medical terminology and hospital standards. The requires excellent listening skills, strong command of medical language, and attention to detail to maintain high-quality documentation.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical dictations including patient histories, discharge summaries, operative reports, and consultation notes.
- Review and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, grammar, and medical terminology.
- Ensure timely completion of transcription tasks to support clinical workflows.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
- Verify unclear or inconsistent information with healthcare providers when required.
- Format and prepare documents as per hospital standards and guidelines.
- Maintain organized records and documentation of transcribed reports.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with doctors and clinical staff for clarification and updates.
- Utilize transcription software and tools efficiently.
- Manage multiple transcription assignments with accuracy and efficiency.
- Proofread documents before final submission to ensure quality standards.
- Update patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Follow turnaround time (TAT) requirements for report completion.
- Support audits by maintaining accurate and complete documentation.
- Stay updated with medical terminology, abbreviations, and transcription practices.
- Assist in maintaining standardized templates and formats for reports.
- Ensure proper filing and retrieval of medical documents.
- Report any discrepancies or issues in documentation to concerned authorities.
- Contribute to improving documentation quality and efficiency.
