OT Staff Nurse

The OT Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care in the operation theatre, assisting surgeons during procedures, preparing patients for surgery, and maintaining strict infection control practices. The requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operation theatre for surgeries including instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and surgical teams during procedures.
• Ensure proper sterilization and aseptic techniques are followed at all times.
• Check and maintain OT equipment for proper functioning before and after surgeries.
• Assist in patient preparation, positioning, and transfer for surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients during surgical procedures and assist in post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, instruments, and consumables used.
• Ensure availability of all necessary surgical materials and emergency equipment.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterilized instruments and supplies.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety protocols.
• Dispose biomedical waste as per hospital guidelines.
• Assist in emergency surgeries and critical care situations.
• Ensure proper handover and documentation during shift changes.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the operation theatre.
• Support surgeons and team in maintaining smooth workflow during procedures.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH standards.
• Educate patients and families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.
• Participate in training programs and skill development initiatives.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of surgical care and patient safety.
