Job Description

Deputy General Manager - Purchase is responsible for leading procurement and sourcing activities related to Capex and project requirements, ensuring timely availability of materials and services while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance standards. The involves vendor management, commercial negotiations, procurement planning, stakeholder coordination, and monitoring end-to-end purchase operations for projects and capital expenditure activities.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Capex and project procurement activities across the organization.
  • Handle sourcing and procurement of project-related materials, equipment, and services.
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions with vendors.
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of project materials as per required lead times.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, project teams, finance, and external stakeholders for smooth procurement operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Identify and develop new vendors to strengthen the procurement network and improve cost efficiency.
  • Monitor vendor performance, delivery timelines, and compliance with agreed terms.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Support project execution through effective procurement planning and material availability management.
  • Resolve procurement-related queries and coordinate with finance and internal teams for clarifications and approvals.
  • Monitor procurement costs and support cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Maintain accurate purchase records, procurement documentation, contracts, and reports.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning activities for Capex projects.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement timelines and achievement of TCD (Total Cost Delivery) objectives.
  • Conduct market analysis and monitor industry trends for strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and process improvement initiatives related to procurement operations.
  • Supervise and guide purchase team members for efficient workflow management.
  • Prepare MIS reports, procurement status reports, and vendor performance summaries for management review.
  • Maintain professionalism, ethical business practices, and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Perform additional procurement and project purchasing responsibilities assigned by management or senior leadership.
