Job Description
The Consultant – Paediatric Hematologist will be responsible for diagnosing and managing a wide range of hematological conditions in children, including anemia, bleeding disorders, and hematologic malignancies. The involves conducting detailed clinical evaluations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing individualized treatment plans. The candidate will work closely with pediatricians, oncologists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care. Strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach toward pediatric patients and their families are essential.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage pediatric blood disorders such as anemia, hemophilia, thalassemia, and leukemia.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations including medical history, physical examination, and clinical assessments.
- Interpret laboratory tests, bone marrow studies, and other diagnostic investigations.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Prescribe and monitor therapies including transfusions, chemotherapy, and supportive care.
- Manage complex and chronic hematological conditions in children.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment protocols as required.
- Provide pre- and post-treatment care, including follow-up and rehabilitation support.
- Coordinate with pediatricians, oncologists, pathologists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients and families regarding disease conditions, treatment options, and long-term care.
- Handle pediatric emergencies related to hematological conditions effectively.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and ethical practices.
- Participate in tumor boards, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Stay updated with advancements in pediatric hematology and emerging treatment options.
- Participate in clinical research, trials, and academic activities.
- Guide and mentor junior doctors, residents, and medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Promote preventive care, early diagnosis, and awareness programs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times.
