Laboratory Technicians are responsible for performing laboratory tests, handling diagnostic equipment, processing samples, and ensuring accurate reporting of test results to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The involves collecting and analyzing specimens, maintaining laboratory records, following safety protocols, and ensuring smooth functioning of laboratory operations. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collect, label, process, and handle patient samples including blood, urine, and other specimens.
- Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures as per standard operating protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and diagnostic instruments.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results and reports.
- Maintain proper documentation of test records, reports, and laboratory data.
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines, infection control measures, and quality standards.
- Prepare reagents, chemicals, and laboratory materials required for testing procedures.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory inventory including reagents, kits, and consumables.
- Perform routine calibration, cleaning, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Identify equipment malfunctions and report maintenance requirements promptly.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff regarding test requirements and sample collection.
- Ensure timely processing and reporting of laboratory investigations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory work areas.
- Follow biomedical waste management and safe disposal procedures.
- Assist in emergency laboratory investigations and urgent diagnostic requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and laboratory records.
- Participate in quality control programs, audits, and laboratory improvement activities.
