Junior Consultant / Consultant (Neonatology)

The Junior Consultant / Consultant (Neonatology) will be responsible for managing newborns in NICU and neonatal wards, diagnosing and treating neonatal conditions, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. The requires strong clinical expertise in neonatology, quick decision-making abilities, and a compassionate approach towards newborns and their families.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to newborns, including premature and critically ill neonates.
• Manage patients in NICU, neonatal wards, and delivery rooms.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of neonatal conditions and complications.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and provide immediate neonatal resuscitation.
• Monitor growth, development, and clinical progress of neonates.
• Manage ventilators, incubators, and other neonatal life-support equipment.
• Perform neonatal procedures such as intubation, line insertion, and resuscitation.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and nursing staff for patient care.
• Interpret laboratory investigations and imaging reports for clinical decisions.
• Counsel parents regarding newborn health, treatment plans, and prognosis.
• Ensure adherence to NICU protocols, infection control, and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical audits.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and clinical guidelines.
• Handle neonatal emergencies and provide immediate critical care interventions.
• Support breastfeeding initiatives and neonatal nutrition management.
• Train and guide junior doctors, nurses, and NICU staff.
• Participate in continuous medical education and research activities.
• Maintain ethical practices, professionalism, and patient confidentiality.
• Contribute to improving neonatal outcomes and quality of care.
