Optometrist

The Optometrist will play a vital in delivering quality vision care services by conducting eye tests, assessing visual acuity, and supporting ophthalmologists in patient diagnosis and treatment planning. This requires strong clinical knowledge, precision in examinations, and excellent communication skills. The candidate must ensure accurate assessments, patient education, and adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
• Evaluate visual acuity, binocular vision, color vision, and depth perception.
• Perform refraction tests and prescribe corrective lenses such as spectacles and contact lenses.
• Assist in diagnosing eye conditions including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disorders.
• Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors, slit lamps, tonometers, and fundus cameras.
• Support ophthalmologists during diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Interpret diagnostic findings and maintain accurate patient records.
• Educate patients on eye care, lens usage, hygiene, and preventive measures.
• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear and contact lenses when applicable.
• Ensure proper fitting and adjustment of spectacles and contact lenses.
• Monitor patient progress and provide follow-up care and guidance.
• Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and functionality of ophthalmic equipment.
• Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Coordinate with ophthalmologists, technicians, and nursing staff for smooth patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports in HIS/EMR systems.
• Participate in vision screening camps and community outreach programs.
• Assist in pre-operative and post-operative ophthalmic assessments.
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards, hospital policies, and ethical practices.
• Handle patient queries and provide professional counseling with empathy.
• Stay updated with advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
• Participate in training programs, CMEs, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage patient appointments and ensure smooth patient flow in OPD.
• Support inventory management of lenses, frames, and optical supplies if required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and data privacy at all times.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
