Consultant - Urology

The Consultant – Urology will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of urological conditions, performing advanced urological surgeries and endoscopic procedures, and managing both elective and emergency cases. This requires strong surgical expertise, clinical judgment, and a patient-centric approach.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and manage urological conditions affecting kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, and male reproductive system.
• Conduct detailed patient evaluations including history, physical examination, and diagnostic interpretation.
• Perform urological surgeries such as endourology procedures, stone management, TURP, and other minimally invasive surgeries.
• Manage emergency urological cases including renal colic, urinary retention, trauma, and infections.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, and catheterization.
• Interpret imaging studies including ultrasound, CT scans, and IVU related to urological conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and best practices.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical urology patients.
• Collaborate with nephrologists, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary care.
• Supervise inpatient and outpatient urology services.
• Conduct OPD consultations and follow-up clinics for urology patients.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and post-treatment care.
• Ensure accurate documentation of clinical findings, procedures, and patient records.
• Maintain adherence to infection control protocols and surgical safety standards.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical decision-making.
• Mentor and guide junior doctors, residents, and medical staff.
• Handle medico-legal documentation and ensure compliance with hospital protocols.
• Stay updated with advancements in urology techniques, technology, and surgical practices.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and academic activities.
• Contribute to developing departmental protocols and surgical guidelines.
• Ensure patient safety, ethical practice, and high-quality clinical outcomes.
• Coordinate with hospital administration for efficient urology service delivery.
• Work towards improving patient satisfaction and departmental performance.
