Plant Chemist

The Plant Chemist will be responsible for supporting chemical manufacturing, pilot plant operations, process monitoring, and batch execution activities. This involves managing production processes, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, troubleshooting plant-level issues, and coordinating with R&D, QA, QC, and production teams. The ideal candidate should have strong chemistry knowledge, process understanding, and practical exposure to plant operations in a chemical or pharmaceutical environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor plant or pilot plant chemical processes as per approved batch instructions.
• Execute production batches while ensuring compliance with process parameters and SOPs.
• Coordinate with production operators for charging, reaction monitoring, filtration, and isolation.
• Review process conditions such as temperature, pressure, pH, time, and material consumption.
• Support scale-up activities from laboratory process to pilot or commercial production.
• Identify and report process deviations, equipment issues, and safety concerns.
• Assist in troubleshooting batch failures, yield variation, and process abnormalities.
• Maintain batch manufacturing records, logbooks, and production documentation.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of chemicals, solvents, and intermediates.
• Coordinate with QC for in-process sample testing and result follow-up.
• Follow safety procedures related to hazardous chemicals, reactions, and plant equipment.
• Support cleaning, line clearance, and equipment readiness activities.
• Participate in process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
• Maintain coordination with R&D, QA, EHS, and engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements during plant operations.
