Street children have the same basic human rights as all children, including the right to: Survival, Protection, Education, Participation, Non-discrimination, Family, Identity, And Freedom of expression. 

Efforts are being made by governments, NGOs, and other organizations to promote and protect the rights of street children, and to provide them with the support and protection they need to thrive and reach their full potential. However, much more needs to be done to ensure that street children receive the rights and protection they deserve.

The International Day for Street Children is important for several reasons:
