FAQ

When is World FND Awareness Day?

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Awareness Day is observed on April 13th every year. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about FND and promoting understanding of this complex and often misunderstood condition. Various organizations and advocacy groups around the world organize events and activities to mark the day and promote FND awareness. These may include educational seminars, fundraising events, social media campaigns, and public awareness initiatives. By raising awareness about FND, advocates hope to reduce stigma and improve access to diagnosis and treatment for those affected by the condition.

What are the symptoms of FND?

The symptoms of FND can vary widely from person to person and can include a range of physical and/or neurological symptoms, such as weakness or paralysis, tremors or shaking, abnormal movements, gait problems, altered sensation, vision and hearing problems, non-epileptic seizures, cognitive and emotional symptoms like memory problems, confusion, anxiety, and depression.

How can we raise awareness for FND?

There are several ways to raise awareness for FND:

  • Sharing information on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using hashtags like #FNDawareness and #FNDhope.
  • Organizing events, walks, and fundraisers to promote awareness of FND and support organizations that are working towards research and treatment of the condition.
  • Partnering with advocacy organizations and healthcare professionals to promote education and awareness of FND in the community.
  • Sharing personal stories and experiences with FND to help others understand the impact of the condition on individuals and families.
