Phlebotomist

Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other patient samples safely, accurately, and professionally for laboratory testing. The requires DMLT, BMLT, or phlebotomy training with 0 to 6 years of experience. Candidates should have knowledge of blood collection, sample handling, patient communication, laboratory support, and infection control practices.

Role & Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients using approved phlebotomy techniques.
• Verify patient identity before sample collection.
• Label samples accurately as per laboratory protocol.
• Handle blood, urine, and other specimens safely.
• Maintain patient comfort during sample collection.
• Follow infection control and biosafety guidelines strictly.
• Prepare samples for processing, storage, and transportation.
• Maintain sample collection records and documentation.
• Coordinate with laboratory technicians and reporting teams.
• Manage priority and emergency sample collection when required.
• Dispose needles, syringes, and biomedical waste safely.
• Maintain cleanliness of collection area and phlebotomy equipment.
• Explain basic sample collection instructions to patients.
• Report sample collection issues or patient reactions immediately.
• Ensure timely and accurate laboratory sample support.
