Ward Boy

Ward Boy is responsible for supporting patient care areas by assisting in patient shifting, ward cleanliness, sample and document movement, patient support, and coordination with nursing staff. The requires physical fitness, discipline, basic hospital awareness, and respectful patient handling. Ward Boy plays an important in maintaining smooth ward operations, patient comfort, and timely support for clinical and non-clinical hospital activities.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assist in shifting patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, or other patient movement equipment.
• Support nursing staff in patient transfer between wards, ICU, OT, diagnostic areas, and discharge points.
• Help maintain cleanliness and basic order around patient beds and ward areas.
• Carry patient files, reports, samples, medicines, and supplies as instructed by authorized staff.
• Assist elderly, weak, or dependent patients with safe movement under nursing supervision.
• Ensure stretchers, wheelchairs, and patient movement equipment are clean and available.
• Inform nursing staff immediately about patient discomfort, fall risk, or emergency concerns.
• Support admission, discharge, room shifting, and ward preparation activities.
• Follow infection control, hand hygiene, safety, and biomedical waste guidelines.
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and respectful behavior during assistance.
• Coordinate with housekeeping, nursing, laboratory, pharmacy, and ward teams when required.
• Help in basic non-clinical patient support activities as assigned by seniors.
• Report damaged equipment, shortage of supplies, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Follow hospital duty schedules, uniform rules, and workplace discipline.
• Contribute to smooth ward functioning and patient-friendly hospital service.
