OT Nurse

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a skilled and dedicated OT Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in the Operation Theatre, assist surgical teams, and ensure smooth and safe surgical procedures. The involves maintaining sterility, preparing patients and instruments, and supporting intraoperative and postoperative care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operation theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and OT staff during surgeries as scrub or circulating nurse.
• Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Verify patiententity, consent, and surgical site before procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery including positioning, draping, and pre-operative care.
• Monitor patient condition and vital signs during procedures (as required).
• Maintain accurate counts of sponges, instruments, and needles before and after surgery.
• Handle and pass surgical instruments efficiently during procedures.
• Ensure availability of all required surgical supplies and emergency equipment.
• Assist in handling specimens and sending them for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain proper documentation of surgical procedures and nursing records.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and availability of instruments.
• Assist in post-operative patient transfer to recovery or ICU.
• Ensure proper cleaning and turnover of OT between surgeries.
• Manage biomedical waste disposal as per protocols.
• Participate in emergency procedures and code blue situations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and safety guidelines.
• Train and guide junior nursing staff and OT assistants.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and infection control programs.
• Maintain professionalism, patient safety, and confidentiality at all times.
