The OT Incharge will be responsible for supervising operation theatre activities, managing OT staff, ensuring surgical readiness, maintaining sterile protocols, and coordinating with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, CSSD, and hospital administration. This requires strong OT workflow knowledge, leadership skills, infection control awareness, documentation discipline, and the ability to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient surgical operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operation theatre activities and ensure smooth surgical workflow.
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, OT nurses, technicians, CSSD, and support staff.
- Ensure OT rooms, equipment, instruments, medicines, and consumables are ready before procedures.
- Monitor sterilization, aseptic practices, infection control, and surgical safety standards.
- Allocate duties to OT staff and maintain proper shift coordination.
- Verify surgical checklists, consent documentation, patient preparation, and OT readiness.
- Maintain OT registers, procedure records, material usage, and equipment logs accurately.
- Coordinate with CSSD for timely availability of sterilized instruments and surgical sets.
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, disinfection, and storage of OT instruments and equipment.
- Monitor stock of sutures, implants, emergency medicines, surgical consumables, and linen.
- Report equipment malfunction, material shortage, infection control issues, or safety concerns.
- Train OT staff on SOPs, sterile techniques, biomedical waste handling, and patient safety.
- Support emergency surgeries and ensure quick OT preparation when required.
- Maintain discipline, hygiene, PPE compliance, and professional behavior within OT.
- Ensure all OT activities follow hospital protocols and quality standards.
