The Rotational Oral Surgeon will be responsible for diagnosing and surgically treating diseases, injuries, and defects of the oral and maxillofacial region. This involves working in rotational shifts, handling emergency cases, and collaborating with dental and medical teams for comprehensive patient care.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and surgically treat oral and maxillofacial conditions, including impacted teeth, jaw disorders, and facial trauma.
- Perform procedures such as tooth extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth), biopsies, cyst removals, and minor/maxillofacial surgeries.
- Manage dental and facial trauma cases in coordination with emergency and surgical teams.
- Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery.
- Administer local anesthesia and sedation as required for surgical procedures.
- Handle emergency oral surgery cases efficiently across rotational shifts.
- Interpret radiographs, CT scans, and other imaging for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, sterilization, and surgical safety protocols.
- Collaborate with orthodontists, prosthodontists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary care.
- Maintain detailed patient records, surgical notes, and treatment documentation.
- Educate patients on procedures, risks, and post-operative care instructions.
- Monitor patient recovery and manage complications effectively.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Follow hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery techniques.
- Coordinate with dental assistants and OT staff for smooth surgical procedures.
- Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and patient confidentiality.
- Work in rotational shifts including weekends and emergency duties.
- Contribute to enhancing surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
