Microbiology Officer Job in Indore at Lupin

Job Description

The Microbiology Officer will be responsible for microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, sterility-related support, documentation, and laboratory compliance for sterile and ophthalmic pharmaceutical products. This requires strong knowledge of microbiology laboratory practices, aseptic techniques, media preparation, microbial testing, GMP, GLP, and data integrity. The candidate will support accurate testing, contamination control, audit readiness, and reliable microbiology operations.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, water, finished products, and environmental samples.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities in sterile and ophthalmic manufacturing areas.
  • Perform tests such as bioburden, microbial limit test, sterility support, BET support, and growth promotion.
  • Prepare, sterilize, and handle culture media, reagents, glassware, and microbiology consumables.
  • Monitor cleanroom areas, personnel hygiene, surface samples, air samples, and compressed air points.
  • Record microbiology data, observations, test results, and laboratory documentation accurately.
  • Follow GMP, GLP, aseptic practices, biosafety, data integrity, and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Maintain microbiology instruments, incubators, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets, and monitoring equipment.
  • Report microbial excursions, contamination trends, OOS results, and abnormal observations to seniors.
  • Support investigations related to microbial failures, environmental excursions, and contamination events.
  • Coordinate with QA, production, QC, engineering, and validation teams for microbiology-related activities.
  • Maintain stock of media, cultures, reagents, disinfectants, plates, and laboratory consumables.
  • Support cleaning validation, disinfectant efficacy, media fill, and sterile area monitoring activities.
  • Prepare trend reports, environmental monitoring summaries, and microbiology compliance records.
  • Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and audit readiness in the microbiology laboratory.
