Job Description
The Medical Transcriptionist will be responsible for converting doctors’ dictations, audio recordings, and clinical notes into precise and well-formatted medical reports. The involves ensuring quick turnaround time (TAT), maintaining accuracy in documentation, and coordinating with doctors for report finalization and sign-off. The candidate will ensure that all reports meet quality standards and are delivered within defined timelines, with special focus on urgent cases.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Transcribe medical reports from audio recordings, dictations, and written notes accurately.
- Ensure fastest reporting TAT (within defined timelines, e.g., within 3 hours).
- Prepare and finalize reports with proper formatting, terminology, and structure.
- Ensure all reports are reviewed, approved, and signed by doctors before delivery.
- Handle urgent and priority reports with immediate attention and faster turnaround.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and consistency in medical documentation.
- Proofread and edit reports to eliminate errors in grammar, terminology, and formatting.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
- Follow SOPs and documentation guidelines strictly.
- Coordinate with doctors and departments for clarifications and report completion.
- Ensure timely delivery of reports to respective departments or patients.
- Maintain organized records of transcribed reports and documentation.
- Ensure departmental housekeeping and proper management of transcription systems.
- Handle and update inventory records related to transcription work if applicable.
- Use medical transcription software and tools efficiently.
- Identify discrepancies or unclear dictations and seek clarification promptly.
- Maintain logs and track report status for timely completion.
- Support quality audits and compliance checks related to documentation.
- Participate in training and skill enhancement programs.
- Stay updated with medical terminology and transcription best practices.
