Job Description

Associate Consultant - Pediatric Cardiac Anaesthesia is responsible for providing specialized anaesthesia care for pediatric cardiac surgery and critical cardiac procedures. The requires MBBS with MD or DNB qualification and fellowship exposure in Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Anaesthesia with 5 to 10 years of experience. Candidates should have strong knowledge of pediatric cardiac anaesthesia, airway management, perioperative care, ICU coordination, and patient safety.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anaesthesia assessment for pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Plan anaesthesia care based on child age, cardiac condition, procedure type, and risk profile.
  • Administer anaesthesia safely during pediatric cardiac and related procedures.
  • Monitor airway, ventilation, oxygenation, cardiac rhythm, hemodynamics, and anaesthesia depth.
  • Support intraoperative management of high-risk congenital and acquired cardiac conditions.
  • Coordinate with pediatric cardiac surgeons, pediatric intensivists, perfusionists, OT nurses, and ICU teams.
  • Manage airway emergencies, hemodynamic instability, and intraoperative complications.
  • Support post-operative transfer and handover to Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
  • Maintain accurate anaesthesia records, consent documentation, drug charts, and procedure notes.
  • Ensure readiness of pediatric anaesthesia equipment, emergency drugs, airway devices, and monitors.
  • Follow OT safety checklist, infection control, pediatric safety, and hospital protocols.
  • Communicate anaesthesia-related information to parents and clinical teams when required.
  • Participate in pediatric cardiac case discussions and perioperative planning.
  • Support audits, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Deliver safe, precise, and compassionate pediatric cardiac anaesthesia care.
