The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, verifying prescriptions, managing pharmacy inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital standards. The requires strong pharmaceutical knowledge, accuracy, and a patient-centric approach.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately as per doctor’s prescriptions.
- Review and verify prescriptions for dosage, interactions, and contraindications.
- Provide patients with clear instructions on medication usage, dosage, and side effects.
- Maintain proper storage of medicines as per regulatory and safety standards.
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and ensure availability of essential drugs.
- Manage procurement coordination with the purchase and stores department.
- Maintain accurate records of drug inventory, dispensing, and billing.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, hospital policies, and SOPs.
- Handle controlled drugs and maintain proper documentation as per regulations.
- Prevent medication errors through careful verification and labeling.
- Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff for medication-related queries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
- Dispose of expired and damaged medicines as per biomedical waste guidelines.
- Assist in emergency drug supply and crash cart management.
- Participate in audits, stock checks, and quality control processes.
- Counsel patients on medication adherence and safety precautions.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of medicines.
- Stay updated with new drugs, formulations, and pharmaceutical practices.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior pharmacist or management.
