Approved Microbiologist Officer

The Approved Microbiologist Officer will be responsible for conducting and supervising microbiological analysis of raw materials, water samples, environmental monitoring samples, in-process samples, and finished products. The involves ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP, and regulatory guidelines while maintaining laboratory accuracy, documentation, and safety standards. The candidate will support investigations, validations, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives related to microbiology operations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, water, and environmental samples.
• Conduct microbial limit tests, sterility tests, endotoxin tests, and culture analysis as required.
• Monitor environmental conditions and perform environmental monitoring activities.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, SOPs, and microbiological standards.
• Prepare, review, and maintain microbiology laboratory records and documentation accurately.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain microbiology laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Handle microbial cultures, media preparation, and microbiological reagents safely and accurately.
• Support investigation of OOS, deviations, contamination incidents, and microbiological failures.
• Participate in validation activities including sterilization validation and cleaning validation.
• Ensure proper housekeeping, hygiene, and safety within microbiology laboratory areas.
• Coordinate with QA, QC, production, and engineering departments for microbiology-related activities.
• Support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory inspections.
• Ensure proper disposal of biohazard and microbiological waste materials.
• Monitor trends in microbiological results and recommend corrective actions when required.
• Prepare microbiology reports, trend analysis, and MIS documentation for management review.
• Train and guide laboratory personnel on microbiological procedures and safety practices.
• Ensure proper inventory management of microbiological media, cultures, and consumables.
• Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of laboratory records and test results.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for microbiology laboratory operations.
• Stay updated with microbiology standards, pharmaceutical regulations, and industry best practices.
