Medical Officer

Medical Officer is responsible for providing clinical care, assessing patients, managing OPD and IPD cases, coordinating with consultants, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. The requires sound clinical judgment, emergency handling skills, patient communication, and knowledge of hospital protocols. Medical Officer supports diagnosis, treatment planning, patient monitoring, and continuity of care across hospital departments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Examine patients and assess clinical conditions in OPD, IPD, emergency, and ward areas.
• Take patient history, perform physical examination, and record clinical findings accurately.
• Provide initial treatment, medical advice, and necessary clinical support as per hospital protocols.
• Coordinate with consultants and specialists for patient treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Monitor admitted patients and update progress notes, treatment charts, and clinical records.
• Assist in emergency patient management, stabilization, and timely escalation to senior doctors.
• Review investigation reports, diagnostic findings, and patient response to treatment.
• Prescribe medicines, investigations, and supportive care within authorized clinical guidelines.
• Ensure proper documentation of admission notes, discharge summaries, consent forms, and case papers.
• Communicate clearly with patients and relatives regarding treatment, condition updates, and care instructions.
• Coordinate with nursing staff for medication administration, patient monitoring, and care execution.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, medico-legal, and hospital quality protocols.
• Participate in clinical rounds, case discussions, audits, and departmental meetings.
• Support smooth coordination between emergency, ward, ICU, OT, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy teams.
• Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and patient-centered care at all times.
