Nursing Incharge

Nursing Incharge is responsible for supervising nursing staff, managing patient care activities, ensuring smooth ward operations, and maintaining quality nursing standards across assigned departments. The requires strong leadership, clinical knowledge, team coordination, documentation skills, and patient care management. Nursing Incharge ensures proper duty allocation, protocol compliance, patient safety, and effective communication between doctors, nurses, patients, and hospital administration.

Role & Responsibilities

• Supervise daily nursing operations in assigned wards, departments, or patient care areas.
• Allocate duties, shifts, and responsibilities to nursing staff as per patient care requirements.
• Monitor quality of nursing care and ensure patient safety standards are maintained.
• Guide nursing staff in patient assessment, medication administration, documentation, and bedside care.
• Coordinate with doctors, consultants, and department heads for patient treatment plans.
• Ensure proper handover and takeover between nursing shifts.
• Maintain nursing records, patient files, medication charts, admission notes, and discharge documentation.
• Train junior nurses and support staff on hospital protocols, infection control, and patient care standards.
• Monitor compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, safety guidelines, and clinical protocols.
• Manage patient complaints, staff concerns, and operational issues in a professional manner.
• Ensure availability of required medicines, consumables, equipment, and emergency supplies.
• Support critical patient management, emergency response, and escalation of clinical concerns.
• Conduct regular ward rounds to check hygiene, patient comfort, documentation, and staff performance.
• Coordinate with pharmacy, laboratory, billing, housekeeping, ICU, OT, and administration teams.
• Maintain discipline, teamwork, professional conduct, and smooth functioning of the nursing department.
