Pharmacist / Senior Pharmacist

The Pharmacist / Senior Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medicines, ensuring prescription accuracy, managing pharmacy inventory, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and hospital policies. This requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Liaise with doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective drug therapy.
• Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, and potential drug interactions.
• Dispense and supply medicines as per prescriptions and guidelines.
• Perform clinical and accuracy checks of dispensed medications.
• Ensure compliance with Medicines Ethics and Practice, SOPs, and safety protocols.
• Maintain proper storage, handling, and dispensing of medicines.
• Handle controlled drugs and narcotics as per hospital policies and legal requirements.
• Maintain detailed records for narcotics and controlled substances.
• Receive, store, and issue medicines while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Prepare purchase orders (P.O.) and coordinate with suppliers for procurement.
• Generate and maintain Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) for received materials.
• Manage purchase returns, especially for expired or near-expiry medicines.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of medicines.
• Arrange non-available medicines from nearby vendors when required.
• Conduct periodic and quarterly stock verification and inventory audits.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, transactions, and billing.
• Coordinate with finance for cash handling and daily settlements.
• Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and dispensing practices.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the pharmacy.
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
• Provide guidance and training to junior pharmacy staff (for seniors).
• Handle customer queries and provide appropriate medication counseling.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and prescription information.
• Work efficiently in shifts and manage workload effectively.
• Stay updated with pharmaceutical regulations and new drug information.
• Contribute to improving pharmacy operations and patient safety.
