Lab Technician

The Lab Technician is responsible for conducting a wide range of laboratory investigations, ensuring precision in testing procedures, and supporting clinicians with reliable diagnostic results. This requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to laboratory protocols in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and pathology.
• Collect, label, and process patient samples including blood, urine, sputum, and other specimens.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of samples to maintain accuracy and integrity.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control protocols for all tests.
• Record, analyze, and verify test results before reporting to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure timely generation and delivery of laboratory reports to clinicians and departments.
• Maintain proper documentation of test procedures, results, and quality control records.
• Adhere strictly to infection control practices and laboratory safety guidelines.
• Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste as per regulations.
• Monitor inventory of reagents, kits, and consumables and ensure timely replenishment.
• Assist in internal and external quality assurance programs and audits.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for urgent and emergency tests.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance teams when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient data and reports.
• Participate in training programs and stay updated with advancements in laboratory technology.
• Assist in preparation of reports, statistics, and laboratory data analysis.
• Follow all regulatory, legal, and accreditation standards related to laboratory services.
• Support sample collection in OPD, IPD, and emergency departments when required.
• Ensure accurate labeling and tracking of all samples to avoid errors.
• Handle high workload efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
