Senior OT Technician

The Senior OT Technician plays a critical in overseeing operation theatre operations, assisting in complex surgical procedures, and ensuring the availability and functionality of all instruments and equipment. This requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations in a surgical environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily operation theatre activities and OT technician staff.
• Prepare and ensure readiness of operation theatres for scheduled and emergency surgeries.
• Oversee sterilization of surgical instruments and ensure strict adherence to aseptic protocols.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during complex and specialized surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper arrangement and availability of surgical instruments, implants, and consumables.
• Monitor functionality and maintenance of OT equipment including anesthesia machines, monitors, suction units, and surgical lights.
• Conduct regular checks and preventive maintenance coordination with biomedical teams.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards, safety guidelines, and hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate records of OT procedures, equipment usage, and sterilization logs.
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after surgeries.
• Manage OT inventory, track usage of consumables, and ensure timely replenishment.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and availability of surgical sets.
• Handle emergency and trauma cases with prompt readiness and efficiency.
• Train, mentor, and supervise junior OT technicians and support staff.
• Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of operation theatre areas.
• Assist in patient preparation, positioning, and transfer to and from OT.
• Support surgeons by providing instruments and assistance during procedures.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance during audits and accreditation processes.
• Coordinate with surgical teams to ensure smooth workflow and minimize delays.
• entify and resolve operational issues within the OT promptly.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and surgical details.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and infection control programs.
• Stay updated with advancements in surgical techniques and OT technologies.
