OT Technician

OT Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre for ophthalmic surgeries and assisting surgical teams during procedures. The involves ensuring proper sterilization of instruments, handling OT equipment, maintaining infection control standards, and supporting smooth surgical workflow in compliance with hospital protocols.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operation theatre for ophthalmic surgeries including cataract, glaucoma, retina, and cornea procedures.
• Assist surgeons and OT nurses during surgical procedures as required.
• Ensure proper sterilization of instruments, consumables, and surgical equipment.
• Handle and maintain OT equipment such as microscopes, phaco machines, lasers, and vitrectomy units.
• Arrange surgical instruments, IOLs, sutures, and disposables as per case requirements.
• Maintain strict OT cleanliness and ensure infection control protocols are followed.
• Manage biomedical waste disposal as per hospital guidelines and safety standards.
• Monitor stock levels of OT consumables and coordinate timely replenishment.
• Support preparation and readiness of OT before, during, and after surgeries.
• Ensure proper functioning and basic troubleshooting of OT equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical instruments, usage, and sterilization logs.
• Coordinate with pharmacy, stores, and nursing teams for OT requirements.
• Ensure adherence to NABH standards, hospital protocols, and safety guidelines.
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation before surgical procedures.
• Participate in routine audits and quality checks related to OT operations.
• Perform additional OT support and technical responsibilities assigned by management or supervisors.
