Microbiology - Officer

The Microbiology Officer will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and analyzing microbiological aspects of the production environment, laboratory operations, and utilities. The ensures compliance with GMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality control.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular environmental monitoring of clean rooms, production areas, laboratories, and utility systems to ensure microbial limits are maintained.
• Perform microbiological testing on air, surface, water, raw materials, and personnel samples using validated techniques.
• Prepare, label, and store microbiological samples following SOPs to maintain sample integrity.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain microbiological laboratory equipment such as particle counters, air samplers, incubators, microscopes, autoclaves, and bioreactors.
• Conduct microbial limit tests, sterility tests, endotoxin testing, and other microbiological assays as per regulatory and internal standards.
• Monitor trends in environmental data,entify deviations, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate contamination risks.
• Review and maintain accurate documentation including logs, batch records, and environmental monitoring reports.
• Ensure all microbiology operations comply with GMP, GLP, and regulatory standards including FDA, MHRA, WHO, and EU-GMP guidelines.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing data and justifications for microbiological controls and practices.
• Implement and maintain microbiological controls for new product trials, validation batches, and facility upgrades.
• Support contamination investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Liaise with QA, Production, and Facility teams to ensure microbial compliance during routine operations and special projects.
• Train and mentor junior laboratory staff and technicians in microbiology practices and SOP adherence.
• Maintain proper hygiene and safety practices within the microbiology lab, including gowning, sterilization, and handling of biohazard materials.
• Stay updated with new methodologies, regulations, and technologies in microbiology to improve testing accuracy and laboratory efficiency.
• Assist in preparation and review of regulatory submissions, reports, and scientific documentation related to microbiology.
• Coordinate with external agencies for microbial testing, certifications, or validations when required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency, data accuracy, and contamination control.
