General OT Nurse

The General OT Nurse will provide operation theatre nursing support, surgical preparation, sterile assistance, patient safety monitoring, and OT documentation at Fortis, Mumbai. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing with 2–7 years of experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare OT room, sterile trolley, surgical instruments, linen, sutures, and emergency items before surgery.
• Assist surgeons and anaesthesia team during planned and emergency procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative workflow.
• Verify patient identity, consent, surgical site, checklist, and required documents before shifting to OT.
• Handle instrument counting, swab counting, needle counting, and surgical material reconciliation.
• Support safe patient positioning, draping, transfer, and post-surgery handover.
• Coordinate with CSSD, pharmacy, biomedical, recovery room, and nursing teams.
• Maintain OT registers, procedure notes, implant records, and infection control documentation.
• Report equipment failure, material shortage, contamination, or surgical delay to OT in-charge.
• Follow hospital OT protocols, patient privacy, safety, and biomedical waste rules.
