Attending Consultant (Lab Medicine)

The Senior Consultant – Interventional Cardiology will be responsible for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases using advanced interventional techniques. This demands extensive experience in catheter-based procedures, critical care management, and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary cardiac team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, evaluate, and manage complex cardiovascular conditions.
• Perform advanced interventional procedures including coronary angiography, angioplasty (PTCA), stenting, and structural heart interventions.
• Handle high-risk cardiac emergencies such as acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, and arrhythmias.
• Lead primary PCI programs and ensure rapid response for emergency cardiac cases.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations such as ECG, 2D Echo, TMT, CT angiography, and cardiac biomarkers.
• Provide comprehensive pre-procedure evaluation and post-procedure care.
• Supervise and manage Cath Lab operations, ensuring efficiency and safety.
• Coordinate with intensivists, cardiac surgeons, and other specialists for integrated patient care.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols and clinical pathways.
• Ensure adherence to international guidelines, hospital policies, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor clinical outcomes and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, outcomes, and patient records.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment plans, risks, and prognosis.
• Mentor and train junior cardiologists, fellows, and medical staff.
• Participate in clinical research, academic activities, and continuous medical education (CME).
• Ensure infection control and patient safety practices within the Cath Lab and cardiac units.
• Manage medico-legal cases and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
• Oversee maintenance and optimal utilization of cardiac equipment and technology.
• Collaborate with hospital management to expand and strengthen cardiac services.
• Participate in outreach programs, health camps, and awareness initiatives.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in interventional cardiology.
• Work in high-pressure environments while maintaining clinical excellence and professionalism.
• Ensure ethical medical practices and strict confidentiality of patient information.
• Contribute to the hospital’s reputation as a center of excellence in cardiac care.
