Medical Officer (Emergency)

The Medical Officer (Emergency) will be responsible for initial assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with urgent and life-threatening conditions. This requires strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making, and the ability to work under pressure.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate medical care and stabilization to emergency patients.
• Perform triage and prioritize patients based on severity of condition.
• Conduct thorough clinical assessments including history taking and physical examination.
• Diagnose and manage acute medical and surgical emergencies.
• Initiate treatment plans and life-saving interventions as required.
• Perform emergency procedures such as suturing, catheterization, wound care, and basic airway management.
• Assist in advanced procedures including intubation and resuscitation under supervision if required.
• Monitor patient condition and respond promptly to any deterioration.
• Coordinate with consultants and specialists for advanced care and referrals.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory and imaging investigations.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
• Handle medico-legal cases and ensure proper documentation as per guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with emergency protocols, SOPs, and hospital policies.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, and hygiene standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
• Provide counseling and reassurance during emergency situations.
• Participate in code blue and emergency response teams.
• Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment and medications.
• Assist in managing patient flow within the emergency department.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
• Participate in audits, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
