Job Description

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a skilled and dedicated Associate Consultant – Anaesthesiology to provide safe and effective anesthesia care, perioperative management, and critical support during surgical procedures. The involves patient assessment, anesthesia administration, and collaboration with surgical and critical care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history review and risk assessment.
  • Develop individualized anesthesia plans based on patient condition and surgical requirements.
  • Administer various types of anesthesia including general, regional, and local anesthesia.
  • Monitor patients’ vital parameters continuously during surgical procedures.
  • Ensure safe induction, maintenance, and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Manage airway, ventilation, and pain control during and after procedures.
  • Provide post-operative care and pain management in recovery units and wards.
  • Respond effectively to anesthesia-related emergencies and complications.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and OT staff for smooth surgical workflow.
  • Participate in ICU care and management of critically ill patients when required.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation.
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and drugs.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines.
  • Supervise and guide junior anesthetists, residents, and OT staff.
  • Participate in pre-operative planning and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and clinical protocols.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Stay updated with advancements in anesthesiology and perioperative care.
  • Participate in clinical audits, research, and academic activities.
  • Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and patient confidentiality at all times.
