Job Description

CTVS Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS). The involves assisting during surgical procedures, monitoring patient conditions, supporting post-operative recovery, and coordinating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during CTVS procedures and operations.
  • Prepare patients and operation theatre setups before cardiovascular surgeries.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and clinical condition during and after procedures.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and critical care situations.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by doctors.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, nursing notes, and medical documentation.
  • Support pre-operative and post-operative patient care and recovery management.
  • Coordinate with doctors, ICU staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams for patient management.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and post-operative care.
  • Handle cardiac monitoring equipment and support critical care procedures effectively.
  • Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and clinical care planning discussions.
  • Maintain proper inventory and availability of surgical and emergency supplies.
  • Participate in ongoing training, CME programs, and nursing skill development activities.
  • Perform additional nursing and critical care responsibilities assigned by management or senior consultants.
