Job Description

Consultant - Medical Oncology is responsible for providing specialized medical oncology care for patients diagnosed with various types of cancers. The involves evaluating patients, developing personalized treatment plans, administering and monitoring cancer therapies, managing treatment-related complications, and ensuring comprehensive patient-centered care. The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver effective oncology services while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.



Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with various oncological and hematological malignancies.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.
  • Review patient medical histories, pathology reports, laboratory investigations, and imaging studies for treatment planning.
  • Monitor patient response to cancer treatments and modify treatment plans when required.
  • Manage cancer-related symptoms, treatment side effects, and pain management effectively.
  • Provide consultation and expert medical opinions for oncology-related cases.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists for multidisciplinary cancer care.
  • Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and expected outcomes.
  • Educate patients about treatment procedures, medication protocols, side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation, treatment records, and patient progress notes.
  • Supervise and administer chemotherapy protocols according to established clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in tumor boards, case discussions, and multidisciplinary clinical meetings.
  • Monitor patient safety and ensure adherence to oncology treatment protocols and infection control practices.
  • Participate in clinical research activities, oncology studies, and clinical trials when applicable.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, academic presentations, and oncology knowledge development.
  • Mentor and guide junior doctors, residents, medical students, and healthcare staff in oncology practices.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing oncology services and patient outcomes.
  • Stay updated with advancements, innovations, and evidence-based practices in medical oncology.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency oncology management and critical patient care when required.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Assist in departmental planning, operational activities, and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold professional ethics at all times.
  • Participate in CME programs, training sessions, conferences, and academic activities related to oncology.
